Judy Layne
Judy Layne lives on six acres in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, with her geese, chickens, ducks, sheep, goat, dogs, and one cat that have been an inspiration for the stories she writes.
As a child, Judy and her family moved to Alaska, where they enjoyed camping and gold mining trips. Before leaving Alaska, she and her family survived the great Alaska earthquake in March 1964. Thirty years later, Judy and her sister, Nanci experienced the Northridge earthquake while living together in Santa Clarita, California.
An award winning dog groomer for 30 years, Judy owned her own mobile dog grooming business in the Los Angeles area, with customers in the movie, TV, and music industries. She won first place awards for grooming in the categories of standard poodle, miniature poodle, and creative grooming. Judy has been employed as an assistant in several veterinary offices, and has worked the past eight years as an administrative assistant in Jackson, California.
She has trained several of her own dogs in obedience and showed her first dog, an Old English Sheepdog in obedience trials in New Jersey. He was awarded the Companion Dog title. Judy is a member of a local self defense club and has attained her Black Belt. She is active in her church in Pioneer, California,
